Inclusive Watersport Event

December 8 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Celebrating the Launch of Inclusive Watersports Days 2025

We are kicking off a full year of Inclusive Watersports with an exciting launch event on Friday 28 February 2025. Join us for a welcoming introduction to the programme, meet the team, and take part in supported taster sessions on the water — all designed for disabled people, people with long-term conditions, neurodivergent participants and anyone who may need a bit of extra help to enjoy watersports.

This launch event is open to individuals, families, carers, support organisations, education providers, and community groups who want to learn more about the opportunities available across 2025.

What to Expect on the Day

During the launch event, participants can:

  • Meet the instructors and support team
  • Learn about our year-round Inclusive Watersports Days
  • Try supported taster sessions in activities such as:
  • Sit-on-top kayaking
  • Canoeing
  • Stand-Up Paddleboarding (SUP) — with seated and kneeling options
  • Sailing taster sessions (weather dependent)
  • Explore the facilities and find out how we can support different access needs
  • Chat with staff, volunteers and other participants in a relaxed environment

No previous experience with watersports is required. You don’t need to be a confident swimmer — buoyancy aids will be provided for everyone.

Who the Launch Event Is For

This launch event is especially suitable for:

  • Disabled people (physical, sensory, learning and hidden disabilities)
  • People with long-term health conditions or reduced mobility
  • Neurodivergent people who benefit from a calmer, supportive setting
  • Families, friends and carers
  • Support organisations, schools and care providers
  • Anyone interested in helping others get active on the water

Carers and support workers are welcome to participate.

Accessibility & Support

Our launch event is designed to be as welcoming and inclusive as possible. Support available may include:

  • Adaptive and stable watersports equipment
  • Assistance with getting on and off craft (where safe and appropriate)
  • Clear, calm communication and the option to watch first
  • Sensory-aware pacing, with quiet spaces and breaks available
  • Warm indoor space between sessions

If you have specific access or medical needs, please tell us during booking so we can plan properly and advise what is possible on the day.
