Event Overview

Inclusive outdoor activity made safe, meaningful and real.

This full-day event brings together people who care about inclusive outdoor activity, sport, physical activity and outdoor education — and who want practical ways to make inclusion work in real settings.

Delivered by Equal Adventure in partnership with Activity Alliance and Grafham Water Centre, the day focuses on what inclusive practice looks like on the ground. Not policy. Not theory. Practical tools, shared learning and meaningful connections you can take straight back into your work.

Whether you work in outdoor education, sport, disability services or community activity, this event is designed to support confident, respectful and person-centred inclusive practice.

What to Expect

A welcoming, action-focused day that balances practical learning, discussion and collaboration — grounded in lived experience and real outdoor environments.

Morning Session

Practical Inclusion in Outdoor Activity & Sport

This session is aimed at coaches, instructors, facilitators, outdoor educators and practitioners delivering outdoor and physical activity with disabled people.

We’ll explore:

  • Creating positive learning environments that encourage solution-focused thinking
  • Supporting different learning preferences and communication styles
  • Safe, person-centred approaches to outdoor movement and participation
  • Practical ways to adapt equipment, environments and delivery styles
  • Inclusive practice that supports confidence, choice, dignity and belonging

All learning is practical and immediately usable — designed so you can apply it within your organisation or adapt it straight away to support individuals you work with.

Afternoon Session

Inclusive Solutions, Collaboration & Local Impact

The afternoon brings together disability organisations, outdoor clubs, educators, sports development officers and community practitioners to focus on:

  • Practical solutions for inclusive outdoor, sport and physical activity delivery
  • Sharing learning from what’s already working locally
  • Building partnerships and connections across Cambridgeshire
  • Exploring how inclusive movement and outdoor education can grow through collaboration

This session is particularly relevant for special schools, teachers, community organisations and sports development professionals.

The emphasis is on connection, shared understanding and supporting inclusive practice beyond a single event.
